Our Kindergarten Adventure

Our Kindergarten plan brings together engaging lessons, living books, hands-on activities, and meaningful Bible study. Here you’ll find an overview of our subjects, themes, and favorite resources—all designed to make learning joyful, memorable, and full of purpose.

Unlike a traditional school schedule, our Kindergarten year is flexible, child-centered, and rhythm-based. We use a few open-book resources and planned themes (which we link below and in our blog), but the heart of our learning happens through playful exploration, hands-on discovery, and child-led activities. At this age, play is learning—children naturally build skills through interaction, imagination, and real-world problem-solving.

Why Play Matters at Age 5

Research in early childhood education consistently shows that play is developmentally essential for young learners. Through play, children explore their world, build language and communication skills, and develop cognitive abilities like problem-solving and creativity. Play also supports social and emotional growth, helping children learn cooperation, independence, and self-regulation—all foundational skills for later academic success.

  • Play encourages initiative, independence, and problem solving while supporting language and literacy development.
  • Research shows that play-based learning can be more effective than direct instruction in developing early math and spatial skills.
  • Play supports social and emotional development, physical coordination, and overall well-being.

Our Kindergarten Resources

Since we don’t have a formal school year outline for Kindergarten, we’d like to just share access to our lessons and reflections that relate to our Kindergarten journey. Hopefully you’ll find inspiration from our experiences and weekly lesson outlines.
